De-Grumpify Your Self
"I think it's very healthy to spend time alone. You need to know how to be alone and not be defined by another person." -Oscar Wilde
Is this you?
Are you feeling annoyed by everyone and everything around you?
Its probably because you haven't had anytime alone in a long time.
"Oh yes I have," you think to yourself.. errr, weren't you watching TV? What about alone time that's not filled with noise?
In order to prevent the grump cat fuzz, why not try to schedule 2 hours a week where you spend time only by yourself? If 2 hours seems impossibly long, start with an hour and maybe just have lunch by yourself. No constant texting, probably no TV.. unless you just have to watch that housewives reunion, no buddy to go with, just you, so you can hear yourself think and check in to see how you're doing and emerge a less grumpy, maybe more calm and happy human.
I'd suggest blocking this time on your calendar and not bailing on yourself, just like you would treat a time with a friend, you are friends with yourself after all at the core of it. Buddy up with yourself and schedule some "me time".
Think of some fun things you'd like to do- and go do them- this may be the hardest part, but once you do so, I promise it will be your most looked forward to event of the week.
Here are some examples of things you may want to try this week:
- Lunch or Dinner
- Sitting in a park
- Exercise class
- Grocery Shopping (Hey, it counts if you make it fun)
- Going on a walk
- Shopping for something fun, I.E thrift store finds
- Getting a manicure or a pedicure
You can make almost any regular activity, as you can see, the ones above aren't anything spectacular, something more meaningful if you dedicate the time to spending it with yourself, even if it is errands, you can change the way you think about it.
